Treat Your Sinus Congestion in 20 Seconds
This procedure is very simple in fact. You need to push your tongue against the roof of your mouth and put your thumb between your eyebrows.
Using your thumb, apply pressure for 20 seconds and your sinuses will begin to drain.
Explanation of the method
The Vomer bone is a bone that runs vertically within the nasal cavity. Lisa De Stefano, D.O., an assistant professor at the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, claims that this technique can help the vomer bone to move back and forth, which alleviates congestion and allows your sinuses to drain.
Four Additional DIY Remedies for Nasal Congestion
If, for some reason, you would not try this method, or you have found it ineffective, there are several other treatments you can try at home. The following four folk remedies also give amazing effects in clearing nasal congestion.
Nasal Saline Rinse
This method has proved quite successful for many people, but it can be a little uncomfortable because the rinse goes through one nostril and out of the other in order to clear the sinuses. You simply mix ¼ teaspoon of sea salt with a cup of warm water.
Oregano Oil
Apart from being hard to obtain and quite expensive, oregano oil is highly beneficial for treatment of sinusitis. In order to alleviate your sinus infection, you can simply add it in your food, or steam it over the stove and inhale it.
Organic Apple Cider Vinegar
You can either take one tablespoon ACV three times a day or prepare a remedy, by mixing 8 ounces of warm water with two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and one tablespoon of honey. Your sinuses will clear up in a few days.
Alternatively, you can mix half a cup ACV with half a cup of water, heat it to a boiling point, and inhale the vapor with closed mouth and eyes.
Turmeric
You can alleviate your sinusitis by simply sprinkling some turmeric on your meal. The strong anti-inflammatory properties of turmeric are due to its active ingredient, curcumin.
